Great News for Canoe Ocean Racing!
Today, during the ICF Board of Directors meeting, two major steps were approved for the future of our Sport:
Madeira has officially been awarded the 2026 ICF Canoe Ocean Racing World Cup.
We are returning to the host of the 2024 World Championships — a fantastic destination with ideal conditions and a strong local team ready to deliver another excellent event.
This marks the first time we will stage five ICF Canoe Ocean Racing World Cups in a single season.
The ICF Board has endorsed the creation of the new Canoe Ocean Racing World Series, uniting all five World Cups into one global circuit starting in 2026.This Series will strengthen our sport through:
- A unified identity across all events
- Greater sponsorship and media value
- Higher standards and innovation from organizers
- Increased athlete engagement through a season-long ranking (May to November)
We look forward to working closely with all hosts to bring this new era of Canoe Ocean Racing to life.
